egg kulambu


Eggs – 3
Big Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
Tomato – 1

Ginger-1 inch piece(crushed).
Garlic- 5 pods(crushed).
Tamarind pulp -1/4 cup
Red Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds- ½ tsp
Curry leaves – 10 leaves
Coriander leaves – to garnish
Salt – to taste

To grind:

  1. Onion – 1
  2. Tomato -1
  3. Coconut (scrapped)- 1/4 cup
  4. Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp


  1. Grind onion and tomato in a mixie ,change to other container,grind coconut and cumin seeds to a fine paste by adding little water.
  2. Heat a pan, add oil, put mustard seed, wait till it crackles, then add fenugreek seeds ,crushed ginger ,crushed garlic and curry leaves.
  3. Add chopped onion ,fry till it becomes translucent,add tomato ,fry till both(tomato and onion) gets together.
  4. Now add the grounded onion and tomato paste to the above content and fry till raw smell goes.
  5. Add  chilli powder,coriander powder,turmeric powder,tamarind pulp,salt and some water.Allow it to boil for 10 minutes in low flame.
  6. Add grounded coconut paste and boil for  2 minutes.
  7. Now crack the eggs one by one and add to the boiling kulambu in the pan.
  8. Allow it to cook for sometime without disturbing.( don´t use spoon till egg is fully cooked).
  9. After egg is fully cooked, garnish it with coriander leaves and turn off the stove.
  10. Serve it with rice.
